Heat Interference

In came August, in came a sudden mix of thundershowers, meteor showers and heatwaves. Our city never ceases to amaze us and the past few weeks have just been a good handful amazement.

I managed to go to the final performance (of the four) for the Celebration of Lights fireworks night which was done by some Canadian group doing a tribute to China (why China?). It was a bit strange how they decided to move the event up a week earlier than usual this year so I only managed to go to the last Saturday one. Well, Saturday was a scorching beach day and I got there a bit after noon and met up with Sty and Tofu. Napped, played iPad touch tetris (fffffffffffffffuu - I got to level 13 at least), ate chips, then it rained and scared some people away. Yay for beach umbrellas. Saboo and Steph followed to join us later that night. The performance itself wasn't all that great as it was too stereotypically Chinesey. Finished off the night with the deliciousness of facecicles.

The following weekend was the weekend of weddings. Friday the 6th was my cousin Fan Mei's wedding. They hired a horrendous wedding singer duo that wouldn't stop their loud singing in bad Engrish. We all wanted to die. At least the dessert was pretty:


The day after, Saturday, was Vee+Chris' long awaited day. For some reason, having Lisa with me made me late for every occasion. She must be bad luck as we were late for both the ceremony and reception. Unfortunately it also decided to rain that day, which made communing that much more frustrating. Jess was there as an additional photographer and it was actually pretty neat to see her again since grad. We totally danced it out at the reception dance floor. :3 It was also interesting to experience my first buffet-style reception. The salad tricked me into filling my plate before getting to the meat. D:! Speaking of weddings though, I don't think I mentioned my cousin Jacky's wedding that happened in July as well. I've only had to go to three this year but my parents have gone to double what I have. Sigh, tis the summer of weddings~

So! As summer's winding down, my inner guilt had forced me to look a -little- harder for work. I did some more searching the following weekend, tried at a few postings and lo and behold, I got a call on the Monday for an interview Wednesday. The next thing you know, I was hired on the spot and I began work that upcoming Friday. Hello! I'm now a jack-of-all-trades web administrator! I'll get into that a bit more another day. Thank goodness for office a/c though.

Then... Anime Evolution happened on the following weekend. I coughed out a day's worth of pass money which I completely regret doing but for the sake of just meeting friends, it's worth it *sucks it up*. Thanks to LightningSabre, I got a pleasant a/c'd ride to UBC where we both began dying upon leaving the vehicle. Bumped into Nina+bf on my way to reg, bumped into Jenny on my way to somewhere-I-forget and joined her to the cosplay cafe. The lineup for it was insane so we just took a peek and then bumped into Tofu and his gang. We headed to the cosplay contest where there were some really questionable performances. It wasn't long before we ditched the place and wandered the artist alley.. er villa. I'm really disappointed at their "artist villa" layout as the artists upstairs obviously got the short end of the stick. I bumped into Nina again upstairs as she finished setting up her table. After wandering around aimlessly a bit more, we headed to the Little Tea House downstairs for some cold drinks before making our way to the Final Fantasy photoshoot. I left Jenny to her photo-taking frenzy as I headed inside to check out the Niconico panel. Stepped in, sat down for a minute, stepped out. It was DISGUSTING IN THERE. With the lack of a/c and the amount of people, it was unbearable. It didn't help that they were playing Japanese Ronarudo remixes. As I waited outside, I bumped into the Chen+Ran duo who were waiting around for the Touhou panel. I watched Chen get into her fake nails while the Niconico panel behind us started to do a live streaming feed. We had people sleeping on the sides, playing their psp, or just talking and didn't care for what was being streamed. Then there were the niconico keeners at the front doing their singing and dancing as they knew the lyrics to the medley and catchy meme'd-the-hell-out-of tracks.

Touhou panel was next. The room got even more packed, thus even more disgustingly hot and humid. The presentation was the same as Sakuracon (and probably last year's AE too). People started trickling out pretty fast when they noticed the presentation was just going to be a snore-fest. I'm glad I brought a fan or I would've died in there. There wasn't anything else good to do so I waited around and left soon after the photoshoot.

Me and LS followed to check out the Starcraft 2 tourny but spectator line was undesirably long so we went next door to the console gaming room instead to pass the time. We poked at Katamari and found that 2 player mode isn't available initially, Split/Second and rerealized that racing games only last so long, Call of Duty and just shot a lot and died a lot. After what we thought was enough time wasted, we went back to the tourny room and watched some matches. Sty and Steph soon showed up and joined us on the watching before it was -finally- Tofu's turn. We watched him get his butt kicked :( then we followed to figure out where to eat :b and finalized on 24hr pho. Called it a night after a stomach full of food.

This dreadful heatwave rendered my PC useless the last few days and scared me into thinking that my hdd might actually be dying. Fortunately it doesn't seem to be the case after I turned it back on when the weather started cooling down. Though I did end up corrupting some sectors on the hdd and that messed up the settings of some programs I had open at the time when my computer began hanging under the heatwave weather.

Regardless, I have an external on the way anyway.

Now that I have a job... I can think about that backlog of things I need to get/do.

Countdown time baby!
The AX schedule's out and I've already taken a gooood look. Oh yes, seems like Sty is indeed still alive and decided to contact me the other day. She finally got her airplane ticket and then followed to help her younger sister get her passport documents ready (apparently that girl's a lazy mofo and can't do it herself). The hotel reservation deadline suddenly also approached out of nowhere (luckily I was checking regularly) and so we rushed to get that done as well. We were hoping for something cheaper but obviously on the frickin' last booking date, everything was practically gone. We ended up just having to get what was best and got the Westin based on the reviews I read on the forums. I also encountered a system hiccup during hotel booking which had me freaking out past the hotel deadline but the issue was on the server side so I think our reservation is safe now.

Now, finally, we/I can relax until then.

Lately it's been just work. Due to the recession, apparently my expected pay (what I originally was getting when I was working there in the past) will drop TWO DOLLARS. I was shocked to hear this but now that I've thought it through, I might just have to deal with it. It's just that I'll have to continue to put in some more effort to find a better paying job even though I thought the search was over. I don't like the idea of a wage drop but my job IS insanely slack so I'm a bit stumped. However, I would rather be busying my ass away and getting better pay than sitting around figuring out what to surf and labouring away - hurting my fingers while sticking labels on beer boxes (yes that's apparently part of the OL's job now). I feel my laziness might just overwhelm me this time rendering me useless in job hunting. I want AX, then fireworks, then PAX, then gtfo summer - I want school again so I don't have to think about it.

On the weekend here held our uneventful convention, Anime Evolution. I decided to follow Saboo and crew down on Saturday to check out the new venue. The $55 entrance fee was a complete turnoff, thus we found a unsecured way in from the back escalators. There wasn't anything we wanted to see in particular so we basically walked the convention center inside and outside and then borrowed badges from someone we knew so we could see the dealer's room. When it was my turn to go in, I unluckily bumped into a previous classmate from our program who dropped out in first year. It's unluckily because he's talkative... and he talks a lot of bs. He went on about his life screw ups since he last saw me, his shroom high moments, information I didn't wanna know.... it was strange to even find him here out of all places. Apparently he had a friend who was interested and told him to check it out. Being the adventurous guy that he was, he came. So I ended up talking with him for 45 minutes before Saboo called me to rush me back. There goes my dealer's room experience. We walked a bit of downtown afterwards, had awesome as usual Tropika for dinner and then "dessert" which ended up to be mostly drinks. My only highlight was the giant Mudkip cosplayer we saw. I asked him to eat my head (cuz his mouth was THAT BIG). It was great!

So I have a number of things I want to accomplish this summer. The first thing completed was watching all of Gurren Lagann. I can officially say that it has sparked me to start rewatching anime again... and that means getting to cleaning my harddrives first! But about the Gurren: the first arc is AWESOME!, the second arc is AWESOME-okay, the third arc is AWESOME but can be better. I was hoping for the scene from episode 1 to be the conclusion to the series. It feels so much more glorious and awesome for Simon! I love Simon, he's my favourite~ :3 Next is Kamina (because he's KONISHI! ..well half the reason) The epic shouts and speeches reminded me of awesome Aquarion (tempting me to watch it again) and all the other elements just screamed Gainax. It was fun but it was a bit disappointing that there wasn't any hidden backstory - you know, stuff us watchers take super close notice and then conjure up some insane theory that this is what really happened! That's always the fun part but there doesn't seem to be one in this case...! In either case, I shall go and indulge myself in the music video extras now.

2nd Last Weekend of August

The weekend failed to disappoint, or at least, it was quite eventful.

It started off Saturday... I woke up early as the rest of the house was still asleep. I drove and dropped my car off at Oakridge and headed down to UBC via bus for convenience. However, the RIGHT bus didn't come for the whole 45 mins I was there. This other guy who was also there for the same bus waited longer than me. A dozen of other buses arrive until ours came, but I was already late for Gar's panel. So a friend in the gaming industry held a mini panel there educating keeners as to how to break into his industry and become something maybe as good as him.

I finally arrive at the site, all the normal university students "Whoa!" out loud in the bus upon seeing a giant row of strange people in rainbow costumes and wigs (who were lining up for the dealers room apparently) - tis AE. I went straight to the info booth to ask for where Sty's table was. She had a table there, promoting her theatres about the upcoming showing of the live action Death Note there. The info booth people were garbage.

I figured the artists alley would be the best bet, so I did that and it took me a while to figure out there was a "more artist tables this way!" letter-sized paper hanging on a doorway. Good signage! (y) I finally find her booth, I steal a badge (I'm not paying $45 bucks for a one day pass and to enter ONE panel) and ran to Gar's panel, entering 10 mins before it ended. As a group (Gar Saboo Nina), we headed back to Sty's panel and they unloaded, then went to the dealer's room. The line up was still as massive as I first saw it from the bus stop. The sun also came out of nowhere, and began cooking us like eggs. I had my trusty umbrella and shaded us, honger style. Apparently, me and Gar could've been able to enter the dealer's room without lining up cuz we were "VIPs" (aka. PRESS and PANELIST respectively).. but we only found that out when we got closer to the door. The dealer's room was a lot more spacious than the multiple room combination at SFU as it was in the gym this time. However, more than half of the stuff there's still fake. Just thinking about that makes me angry. I even posted to rant about it on their forums, hoping they'll do something about it. And I'm not even the type of person who would voice my opinion on these things... I'm a lurker for goodness' sake. I even posted about this before a few years back and yet the problem still persists. They don't learn do they.

However, I did not leave completely empty handed this year. I fancy decorating my car as you may or may not know, so I decided to get a mini Domo plush to hang on my window. Aww he's so cute. Gar and Nina went off to their Phoenix Wright/Apollo 13 Justice cosplay meet, so I stayed with Saboo as she went through the room a few times to find something to get just to get her $45 pass' money's worth (by spending more money, haha). My feet were becoming painful to stand in, so we fled back to Sty's table to rest. Saboo Gar and Nina eventually went off to eat together while I stayed to accompany Sty. 6:30ish rolls around, and I headed back. I missed the bus so I had to wait another 20 mins, sigh. Man, the bus ride back was noisy.

Got back to Oakridge and then dropped by Matt Hon's BBQ on invite. Had a sausage or two, met up with some super old friends/classmates from way back when and did the good ol' catching up talk. There was also another half of people I did not know, nor will I ever know. Actually... to be honest, I didn't know the people there all too well. I'm not even close with the actual host who invited me.

Sunday was full of rain and cloudy periods. May invited me and Mo2 to try out this new church's sunday service in Richmond, so we woke up and went. Eric came by to pick us up and found that the place was actually located in an elementary school. I really like their branding... it's very unchurch-like (out of the box!) and felt much like a "friendly corporate". It'll require me to get a bit more used to it however. Did I mention I love their business card? They used this really expensive coating, which made it all nice feeling and everything!

Ahem, pretty paper aside, the actual service was not bad. I didn't know a few songs and the pastor was an interesting speaker. I think it was only me, but I didn't quite understand his sermon. His example didn't quite connect to the actual scripture especially well, but I think I still got something out of it. Man, after listening to his sermon makes me miss listening to Dr. Stephen Ng over at the old church... he's my favourite speaker. Too bad the people there SUCK so I'm not going back. :(

After service, we were invited to eat someone's homemade chocolate muffin (I called it a brownie... I guess I don't know the difference) and old school Rubien (sp? - lay bun lap) juice. The snack totally filled me but we still went for lunch at Alleluia with Pastor Kay and his family. The restaurant made us wait for soo long, at the end, finding that they claim they called us, but we were sitting right beside the reception so it made no sense. I introduced them to their awesome 3-selection combo meal and they all hopped to it. I had no appetite so I shared a rice with Mo2. Throughout the meal, I got mad calls from MINI from the ccsbb asking me when I'd arrive where they were waiting. Not MY fault they left a message stating WHEN on facebook which I do not check late the night before.

I was dropped off at home where I sped to my car and made haste to Metro. I arrive 2 hours later than they originally posted. I found them (Markster, Sahara, MINI) bumming (literally) in front of the Disney store and I knew it was them without having to call. They were craving the munchies so we headed to the food court and shared some New York Fries. We talked for a bit before MINI had to go, then I was left to entertain.

I suck at thinking of things to do but I started with going to Crystal Mall next door, just to give them a taste of a Chinese mall. I also introduced them to the famous butt moving chair. Then we headed to Richmond and went to Aberdeen but the featured petting zoo event was already GONE! I bumped into Mo2, Braman and friend there who also JUST missed the petting zoo too. Agh - so we went to Daiso, showed them the power of a toony. While we anxiously waited for Shi2 to get off her AE volunteer work, we went to e-spot for some good ol arcade. We saw SFIV. I had them try out the sticker picture machine wakakakaka... the screens were moving so fast so we didn't know what we were doing, but we made some pretty interesting shots. We then spent a good half n hour, at least, drawing on our pictures. Finally I get a call from Shi2 saying she was on her way and I find her outside since she didn't know the place. When we attempted to print our pictures, we get a flashing ERROR message. We were devastated! Luckily the mechanic was able to retrieve and reprint our pictures AND we got our money back for the inconvenience.

Time was beginning to run out so we went straight to the night market instead of having hot pot as I originally planned. I was willing to pay for parking just for convenience sake but I got lucky and found street parking. When we got there, we headed to the food section and ate and ate and ate until it was time to go. Well, more like we didn't have the time to walk the actual night market due to time constraints and we were busy trying food.

To end off the day, we drove them to where they were staying that night (near Victoria Dr and Marine, which was close) and got stuck on the Knight bridge for a while. It was a rather short visit unfortunately, though I told them to come back in 2010. They better. Everyone better.

Two Months Worth

Depressingly returning to work after an awsome trip (that just felt like a long weekend), things were back to "normal" again. Insanely busy work, only mere hours a day of 'free time' before having to go to bed for the next work day, too tired to do anything big, online shopping......

Speaking of online shopping... online shopping is such an exciting activity, is it not? The other day I finally bought clothes online! All this time, through my online shopping adventures, I've been over-worried about sizing and style. Clothing is one of those things you usually have to try on and see how well it suits you. This time, some of the stuff I've been eyeing for the longest time were on sale (!) so I decided to take this chance to take a chance. XD It arrives save and sound and to my surprise, they fit perfectly (minus two that were labeled "one size only" which turned out to be a LARGES D: -- might wash it and see if it shrinks on me). Now that I have clothes buying experience, I think I'll be doing more frequently in the [near] future~

You would think I'd stop buying so much after coming home from vacation and bringing back two suitcases packed full with good stuff.... hahaa.. that doesn't apply to me. :b

More on the topic of online shopping... MY LAPTOP! Finally decided to get one because I'll need it for work. I ordered my very first laptop the other day, ETA 2nd week of August. I totally spent too much on it! As my first AND just a laptop in general. But there was no way I'd go for something that I wouldn't be proud of lugging around and using. The two companies I drilled down to was Toshiba and HP. Toshiba mainly because of their comfortable touchpad I've used before and loved, decent builds, AND because it's 'Toshiba'! For HP, I have gotten a few negative comments about HP from a few of my friends, but I won't let that stop me. HP has more than just a few exceptional laptop builds... especially with the better GPU choices available and included, on top of good sound speakers (Altec Lansing!). That in itself is already a good enough reason for me to go HP. Built-in things won't do for me. So it was a nice try, Toshiba. Within HP, I had a few choices. However, still relatively limited for the Canadian market. My original choice was the dv9420ca from HP Canada. I tried to do some research on this model, but there weren't any reviews or comments on this machine at all. I also found myself looking at the expensive pretty stuff like the Dell XPS but was upset to see the value in price. By the end of my long journey around the online globe, I finalized on a dv9500t CTO notebook! I'll give my customized specs and my personal review when I finally get it. X3

Now onto the backlog...

Thu July 5 - Company BBQ in celebration of our successful commercial release (which I wasn't even here for cuz I was in Cali at the time! :b)! We closed down the office at 2 and headed down to Waterfront to catch the Seabus to the CEO's house out in North Van. I got chosen with another co-worker, DK, to join the CEO and the COO in their car for a joyride to their place instead of taking transit. And wow, go figure, it's North Van.. his house was big, new and pretty. We got to meet the rest of his family (wife, three boys and flip maid!)... We started off with chips and beer.. then I moved onto the lemonade. It wasn't until a few hours in we began finally getting the actual BBQ part. Then the water fights began... One of the boys had the insane supersoaker (with the backpack of water!) and he totally owned us (versus our manual hand-pumping action guns). I got to the point where I got ahold of the backpack supersoaker too and attacked a few people. They had a trampoline in the backyard and we had drunk Jeremy jump in it. Kinda scary to watch actually lol... There was also a waterslide which was called BANZAI MOUNTAIN rofl! Me and DK left at the same time (around 7ish) and took the transit back together. Wow, long time no Seabus for sure.

Fri July 6 - Long time no All-You-Can-Eat sushi @ Richmond Sushi for Trevor's bday.

Sat July 7 - Franky's 22nd Birthday at no other than Mike's place! So we have our usual rowdy group of the Liquids, Franky's work friends, Mike's work people (my work people too I guess) and lots of booze. Franky is such an adorable weak drinker XDD... So it's his birthday... the birthday boy has to drink unreservedly, of course. I had my first Flaming Lamborghini... recommended by the bartender (aka. Eric Chin XD) when I requested something 'different'. XD Then our "boss" (aka. Mike) tricked us (co-workers = me, Jeremy, Paulo, Matthias) that our toast shot was Tequila but turned out to be a friggin' 151. Destructively burning it was. Gross and disgusting surprise lol... Bastard Mike :b The soccer tournament between France-Jeremy and Brazil-Paulo was pretty amusing to watch (on Winning 11 lol~). Tried to get Matthias to join in (as Germany of course! XDDD) but he wasn't into games, boo. So after rounds of strange liquids, I had to start sobering up to drive home so I hid myself in the gaming room and tried to nap. I was accompanied by Franky who was completely out of it... *patpats* Poor guy... he wanted to stay sober to help clean up and be responsible but how could he, it's his birthday! :B

July 16 - Registration for courses. Omg it's that time of year already?! School's back in a month...!!!!

July 18 - Flare & Sakura: k it took us weeks to convince these people to come out of their cave in Langley, for serious. Two people who were part of our #Digimon channel way back when... Flare came to visit Sakura so duh, we're nearby, come visit us too! We decided to meet up at Metro at 7. I drove us to White Spot so we can enjoy the awsomeness that is the burger and their BLUEBERRY PIE! We didn't think about bubble tea until hours later and realized it was probably too late to grab bubble tea so we rescheduled for Saturday. みんなすごっく妙なやつだった。考えたよりすげーオタクくさい…

July 20 - Point Roberts. Requested that I got off work early (2AM) to head down to the states early (to beat the Friday afternoon/evening traffic). There was already nasty traffic forming on Knight street which delayed me a lot. I asked Tek to come with me (paranoid to go anywhere far by myself) and had him wait at Aberdeen so I can pick him and some bubble tea(!) up. It was relatively straightforward... got to see a lot of nothing. I was starting to panic when we got to the border. Gah I'm talking to the border guy not someone else like it usually is like! Tek was under suspicion both times there and back :b... We were there to sightsee... which is exactly what happened. The border guy on the US side had a stern face on the whole time... He paused a lot after our question and answers... then when we said it was our first time here, he suddenly got up and walked into the office. He came back a few seconds later, he gave us a map of Point Roberts and let us through. O_O!! Well.. sightseeing is one thing, our first and most important stop (and the whole purpose of the trip!) was to visit TBS Shipping to grab myself my own number for my nummy packages from the states. The place was a house.. which was why it all makes sense and put some light on how things worked. Grabbed the number and yay, mission complete! We took the opportunity to take a tour of the rest of the little town. The beach. The lighthouse which was NOT a "lighthouse" but was a mini reflective tower! We didn't see any WHALES! NO FREE WILLY! We stopped by a cafe for dinner that was by the marina and had, of course, seafood! We also visited the border obelisk (which had exact coordinates on it :0!!), saw some impressive mansions (with tennis courts, basketball courts, etcetc), some poorly painted houses, and then visited their convenience store (we were wondering where people bought their groceries!)... They had a number of products that have been discontinued here in Canada (lots of childhood favourites -- cereals, etc). It was getting late so we headed back around 8-9ish... the weather was crappy and we pretty much took a tour of the whole town already so we made our way back. Now I know Point Roberts from the back of my hand! Ask me anything! XD

July 21 - Flare & Sakura PT2: Aye. Metro again that evening. Walked to Crystal Mall. Was pissing rain like fack! Had bubble tea, oy full. Sakura even had two O_O! Unfortunately everything was closed by the time we got there except for a few. They ended up buying stuff from the stores that were open. Metro was still open at the time so we walked by the Metro and visited the arcade. A few rounds of bad guitar playing and a few expensive mario kart games. Flare had to start packin' so we disbanded early.

I got home... prepared for AU22. We tried it... 5 times? 75WHM 75RDM 73PLD... and once we got sooo close (1 frickin' percent left!); it was super depressing. It was already late by then (um 5AM?) so I decided to give up for now.

July 25 - It's that time of year again for FIREWORKS! I got off at 5, headed to Monica's work at Burrard station by 5:45ish. We ordered ourselves a party tray and more and headed off to 7-11 for some snacks. Headed back, grabbed our order and made our way to English Bay. As usual, all busses were full no matter which street you tried so we walked the whole way there. We arrived as the relief party for the other members who then went to grab their food. We start off with Spain this year... doing Star Wars and Iron Chef. It was actually quite well done~ We'll see how the other two countries do though. That is, if we plan on going next Wednesday and have to go through this whole after work rush thing again. XP I must admit, I was tired. And it was hot too, so it didn't help one bit. :[

July 28 - I woke up late so I told Mo2 to go first to meet up with Shi2 at McDix. I arrive a few minutes later, had some awesomely good greasey breakfast and then we finally headed downtown. We were all kinda tired so we laid around and cooked. I was lazy to put on sunscreen so I tried to protect myself with the umbrellas. Unfortunately it didn't work as I went home red and itchy. But anyways, the time flew by pretty fast. Other people started joining us around 5ish~6. I am known as the beach monster btw. The sun's radiance is a nuisance to my PSP gaming. I will finish Gurumin soon enough.... We had Fat Burger for dinner. It was not fat. They lie. But anyways, Canada's jazz-themed performance was pretty good. The synchronization was excellent but jazz is not my thing so it was good but not as good as Spain's.

Got home. AU22 again. This time we got another RDM. Hella easy with a fourth lol.

Aug 1 - Holy crap it's August already. Only a mere month left before the start of school again.. I look forward to it, to be honest. Full time work is hella boring. So CHINA. I met up with Mo2 by the Burrard skytrain again. We couldn't decide what we wanted to eat so we made our way there and walked down Robson to do some quick window shopping. We were in a lack of time so we decided to hold it off until Saturday. We picked up Triple-O's on the way (yay!) and ate our soggy fries at the beach. So China gave off this insane war-like angry emotions. I heard some people left feeling scared. I felt their performance was less all pretty stuff but more figurative and deep. Well, they called their performance "The Time Machine" so I'd imagine it was something related to their history :D. To us chinese though, it was to signal for us that it's time to take over the world. The chips that were implanted in our head when we were babies are finally resonating. Becareful.

Aug 4 - The Finale. Me and Mo2 went down around 12ish and walked down Robson to do some shopping. We got to the beach around 1ish and had ourselves some hot dogs we wanted since day 1 (the evil aroma that lures us in when we walk by to the beach everytime!). We then meet Shi2 who was standing there on the beach figuring out what to do. My latest delivery of manga came the other day, so I brought some to read. Karat! is magical girl on crack. It's super messed up and super fun to read lol~ Later that night, we had Fat burger again. And again it fails! And around 4ish, other people finally started arriving. The finale. Was boring, as expected. The opening portion was out of sync and dumb. And for some reason Canada won this year. Was going to do AU29 but I was too exhausted from the long day. Apparently the PLD didn't even show up on time anyways.

Long weekend! Went to the states on the Monday. Did some good ol' shopping yay! Visited the Daiso at Bellisfair. The place is puny compared to our giant two floor. However! They sell things at $1.50usd and things over $2! Even "designer" bags for like $14usd lol... Another good thing is that there's a lot of stock of everything! Not many people know about yet so I still got first grabs! AND $1.50usd IS cheaper than $2cnd so yay!

Aug 11 - AU29. Tried twice. RDM died during convert. Second time I died when we won.

Aug 18 - Anime Evolution is still major weak sauce. Met Shi2 at the Joyce skytrain SUPPOSEDLY at 11 but she showed up a half n hour late. Got there around 12ish, found a place to sit down and we had our Subway we bought on the way. We visited the dealer's room next. We had to wait in line for NOTHING. We went in, went around the puny room and thought, "That was IT??" So we walked around the room twice. Everyone kept crowding around the KH3 trailer... dudes, I thought you've already have seen it by now! After we went out to leave and lo and behold, there was an extension into the mini cafeteria. The Code Geass fan was very tempting... what's better than Lelouche looking hot on the fan :D? I ended up not getting it and kept wandering around. There were a few stores that sold lots of seriously fake shit. That really upsets me. I picked up a Haruhi artbook and wondered why the pictures were all kinda dark... Failed to find any publication information (e.g. ISBN, publication date, etc) Turn it around and see that was published by a Taiwanese company. Ouch. The place makes me shake my head. After that garbage we decided to visit the new Copperstone area and wow it's beautiful. It's like a community! We had bubble tea that was as sweet as fuck. We lounged around a bit and headed back a bit before 4 to make it to the VGcats guy's panel. It was pretty amusing. Though, as usual, there were the annoying stupid questions like "Pirates or ninjas!?"... and eventually there was another stupid girl that kept playing video game ringtones. Sigh I guess that's everywhere. Or just a lot here at this convention. After the panel we walked back to Copperstone and visited Prem's place. And wow, the place is nice and cozy! He even had one of those mini floor cleaning robots! I couldn't help but stare at it clean the whole time XD... We hung around until we were hungry and then we went out for Pho that Shi2 was dying to have for the past few days. After food, they dropped me off and I headed to meet up with Matt and his friend Daniel (?). I made in just in time to watch some G.I. Joe chant parade. o_O Then we went to the BACK-ON concert. And wow... Japanese artists ceast to amaze me. Their concerts are always crazy fun and really enjoyable. Speaking of concerts, they tried to sell $1 glow 'sticks' that were those bendable cheap thin weak ones rather than the thick, bright ones. Total ripoff :b~ After that insanity, me and Matt went to line up to grab their autograph. They're really cool people :D I had them sign their 'Chain' CD I got. And HEY surprise! I also saw Jenny too! Apparently she was volunteering as a translator, assistant, liaison person. She was busy with them so I couldn't stop to talk at all... :T And that ended AE 07. Look out Scon08!

When I got home I did AU31. Weak sauce. I can't carb pull even if my life depended on it.

I'm working hard on Alchemy lately. I am slowly getting poorer than before... I feel I won't get anywhere with it... oh well.

AU39 or something the following Saturday - we died, oh, only just abooout 5 times before we finally managed to pull it off. We were pressing it to finish it for the update the following Monday.

Monday rolls around.. update comes around... NEW GRIPS. Finished up the Lamia.13 assault later that week and got my hands on some hot Paluhwan Khazghand (sp XD) body.. daymn... I need to hurry up and lvl up RNG so I can show it off more. I considered getting the Yigit head but meh, the heads I have now for my mage jobs are better imho. Next round of assaults goes towards some Yigit pieces!

Oh yeah, I tried Einherharjarbargarharjar just for the hell of it with a pickup party-alliance. Lawl. You can imagine how that's like. But it was an interesting experience nonetheless. The lasted two runs until the co-leader decided to decide another time for us, confusing everyone which was then followed by the breaking of the shell. That was the end of that.

This week flew by rather quickly. School starts next week. I think I've prepared... mentally... materialistically... maybe. I need to clean my room.

Wow this month's freaking busy. Go figure! Right before another big turn in life...

So, one of my co-worker's, Angela, last day is Tuesday so we (more like me!) decided on a little farewell party Friday night. We invited everyone at work but it became a small gathering instead (which is good). We started the night with eating at The Keg right after work. And as always, the lineup was long but the food was great. After, the majority parted ways as me and two others went to play some pool. It just so happens we bump into her friends there as well. We finished up our pool (man, I suck at it now!) and played some -erotic- Photo Hunt before she continued on to drink with her other friends. Then there was the odd conversation about threesomes and foursomes... o_o;

AE06. Again.. nothing to really look forward to.. but a 'tradition' to go nonetheless *points to collection of badges* /geek

This year, Shi2 wasn't able to make it so I went myself and met up with Ryan. I felt bad for not being able to bring him his mask for his costume... None of us were able to get ahold of Shi2 to get the mask to begin with tho :\ And I don't plan on returning tomorrow (today) nor Monday so even if I was able to get in contact with Shi2, I can't bring it to him. <_<; So anyways, I arrive there late and headed to the dealer's room first (of course, ming!). Well the dealer's room wasn't exactly very "dealer's room"-like this year. It was located in the school cafeteria / eating area so it was small. Another disappointment though... nothing but bootleg CDs, fake merchandise, Naruto, Inuyasha, Bleach.. come on peopleeee! My figurines were too damn expensive too! $80CND compared to, like, $30 on ebay. I saw Chrno Crusade 8 available so I snagged that.. even though it was marked up too... Then this other guy that looked like he was selling his old, used stuff sold me his 3x3 eyes vol.12 for 50 cents. FIFTY CENTS, you'd think there's something wrong... and indeed, it's quite battered up. Mmmkay 50 cents, I won't say anything.

And that was the end of my shopping. So, moving on... I then met up with Ryan at some VA's panel discussion. Kirby, Scott and A....A... A-something. They were funny people.. 'cept there were some questions that were, as expected, off-topic and dumb. The best retarded question goes to the guy who asked "If you had a choice to choose between strength, defence, or magic -- what would it be?" Cheers to the KH retard.

Then there was the Anime Walkoff. Ha.. I have so much yet really nothing to say about this event. First off, it's sad. So very sad. It consists of guys who THINK they're hot and they 'strut their stuff' by stripping and humping each other on stage. To be blunt, this event is catered to those who don't go clubbing, hang around Davie street, and/or can't get laid. Seriously, 'yaoi' is becoming overrated.

So after wasting an hour of my life, I visited Ryan's on campus townhouse and then returned to the main stage for the ZZ concert. Oh dear, the lead vocal singer is very cute. The concert was overall really good, especially the geeks that tried to dance. Very awsome entertainment value. Then near the end there was an annoying air-filled ball that was thrown around.. and then there was this f-ing girl that kept screaming for the ball. Not just normal screaming.. of course it had to be the high-pitched one. She broke more hairs in my ears than the concert itself. I unfortunately didn't bother searching my Newtype for something for them to sign, neither did I want to wait in line for another hour or so for their autograph, so I left.

Onto a bit on what I've been reading... Shinshi Doumei Cross: like spoiler, wtf Shizmasa has a twin? And fricking last four chapters of the tankoubon's omake side stories! Agh! And it looks like September's gunna be another hefty manga release month... I've got 8 on the list for next month!

Agh I'm so tired.. sleep I go.

AnimeEvolution = teh suck.
After AX, I think all cons'll suck. Can't help but compare with AX but AE was the ultimate suck. Yeahyeah, it's small but even if it's small, it doesn't mean it should be BORING!

AE Friday:
Duuude, I skipped out work for this day. I was "sick". Sty and I woke up bright and early (met up at 8AM to be exact), had McDix and went on our way. Got there, regged and went straight to the exhibitor's hall which apparently already had a line-up. So we sit for about mm.. 3 1/2 hours (we were 3 hours early :3) and it was only a 1/2 behind schedule. The merchandise... was rather disappointing. There was NOTHING but Inu Yasha, Bleach, GSD and Naruto... really. So I left empty handed that day but Sty spotted a nice FFS manga set. Yes, it was frustrating to leave spending absolutely nothing... despite being one of the earlier ones that had access to the exhibitor's room (meaning there should be GOOD STUFF early but no, not in this case). Um, we left right afterwards. I followed Sty DT to her workplace and she treated me to another movie [War of the Worlds!] and it sucked LOL. I personally thought it was retarded. Yes, it got your heart racing a few times but that was it. Everything was kinda dumb. o__o;; After movie, we went to White Spot for some late night food and drinks. Belinininininini...

AE Saturday:
We woke up early (sorta) again and had A&W breakfast this time. Got there and headed for the exhibitor's hall again. We were a bit late but the line-up wasn't long anyways (at least nothing compared to the AX lineups that spanned through multiple hallways and rooms and didn't require 3-4 hours prior arrival with possible 2+ more hours of delay and wait Lol. Anyways, I was trying to be hopeful by going again Saturday hoping there'd be some new stuff but I WAS WRONG! Everything was the damn same! Once again I had nothing to buy... so I last minutely grabbed a CLAMP no Kiseki package (vol.2) for relatively cheap and now I gotta go and collect the whole damn chess set. Woohoo. I still felt empty. :b After the quick exhibitor's hall visit, we went and took a nap outside for a few hours. Then we went to catch the Panda-Z Animation that was some nice very random 5-minute episodes. The opening by JAM Project is amusing, like all of their other typical stereotype superhero-feel songs. After that we fled from the area. The end of AE 2005.

That night I met up with Jo and Simon for sushi and night market. All you can eat is killer. Fukuroku and Iron Chef = Good times. Night Market was the same as always. I got myself the Gundam Seed Destiny chibi gashapon (that I wanted to get at AE but I decided too long and it disappeared...) set while Simon got the first season set. I think I would've prefered the first season set better. Anyways, now they sit on my printer. Check back in a month for its first fresh layer of dust.

Sunday. Wow I felt like a BUM! I didn't feel like going anywhere or doing anything. I was just extremely tired and slept so bloody much after coming home from church.

Yesterday. Good news for the Fish and his new job! Pretty awsome stuff. :DD Now he doesn't have to go back to HK~ More good news: my MobileMate is FREAKING AVAILABLE for a change. I gotta go pick it up asap. It's rather inconvenient to go pick up all the way at Broadway though. Ooh, I seriously need to visit Iwase (I think I'll do that tomorrow) for the delayed stuff from like last last month... they better have it by now! I got my new balance paycheque! The raise wasn't as I thought it would be (they tricked me!) but anyways.. a raise is a raise. Apparently they really want me to stay really badly.... the boss and I had a conversation and he offered to let me work whenever I'm available to help them do some data entry ( only data entry = ok; data entry+phone calls+front desk = no good). I think I'll keep them on the side for some extra cha-ching. The boss thinks highly of me (wow, that I did not know) and so does everyone else in the other divisions... all the nice comments will just go to my head and inflate my ego. It ALMOST made my stay. But *shakes head* oh no, I won't get tricked! O_O!!

Today! The post-front desk lady submitted her resignation letter today! LOL! This company is SCREWED! No data entry/custom service/freight cashiers available for this side by the end of the month! They'll probably grab somebody from my original branch though. But still, this company already lacked/lacks manpower but with less of us, they'll be in a major PINCHI! This side's manager's such a henachoko wuss. He says he's done so many things and yet he didn't do any of it at all. Instead he just whispers under his breath saying he remembers he did it and stares at the computer as if he's thinking and examining the problem when he's obviously NOT. I think I mentioned this already... but everyone in this side of the company thinks he's a total wuss too. No wonder my original manager says he gets picked on.. hell yeah he does. Even *I* pick on him! Just today he said he e-mailed one of the clients to request for some information, and obviously he didn't because he didn't get back to me. So I constantly bugged him all day for it and he just did he whisper-under-his-breath thing and stared at the computer. I offered to help him e-mail the client instead but he's like nooo I did it already and then he stares some more. Ahh what the hell. I'll remember to bug him about it tomorrow. Not to mention he waives one too many outstanding charges... no wonder this company's poor and shit. One of the clients that came by today even spoke with me about this company's reputation and wtf are they actually doing considering the crappy jobs they do. *shakes head* This is nothing to be proud of. And I'm glad I'm not going to be representing them any longer.

Training for my other job starts at the end of this week. I don't know what to expect. Mo^2 says the manager's just overexaggerating. I hope she's right... I'm not even sure if I know what the attire is. I asked her again about it and I THINK she said she gives us uniforms but... *shrugs* does that include pants cuz she also mentioned that she was wearing shorts... and Mo^2 wearing capri's and ahhh... I can't ask Mo^2 either since she's off having fun right now in Victoria. Awwwww... I hope I don't mess up. >_> The manager also said some other higher up manager wants to meet me too... eep. Am I supposed to dress nice or not on my first day then?! So confused on what to do. Wing, wing, wing it I say.

So.... lots to say. Let's see if I remember everything...



I've been working like mad and it's not getting any _funNer_ either. I'm warming up to my supervisor and I think the "Head Guy from Japan" aka. Tomo-san has a liking in me, eheheh! There were a few times I didn't understand what he tried to say (in jpn) for example, I stopped using my pouch to hold my important posessions at work and just stuffed the most important crap in my pocket so he kept asking "Ofukuro wa?" and I was like "Eh? Ofukuro?!" Then I first thought, mother? Nono not mother... did he mean "fuku" as in clothing and its some sort of clothing I don't know about?! Then he left using his infamous phrase "Moumantai! Moumantai!"... so I felt dumbfounded for a while until it clicked and I was like "OMFG MY BAG"! So yeah, too late... And that happened MORE THAN ONCE too. My realtime conversation sucks. D:



So suddenly I get a day off on Friday on the 20th so I last-minute attack Sty about going to AE and so we DO! I wake up a little earlier and iron like I've never ironed before, trying to iron out my Lacus costume but due to lack of time, it ends up all nasty anyways. I met Sty at A&W on Commercial Drive. She shows me her SUPER COOL K2 (Kiss Me, Kill Me) Manhwa Saboo got and when I started to get into it, OMFG JUNG-WOO <3! It's such an adorable manhwa~ Anyways, we arrive at SFU and made our way to the registration area and got ourselves registered and Sty became my guardian for my parental consent form XD. Anyways, the registration ate all my money and so I had $10 left. We looked at the shit map and didn't understand a thing. We visited the game room that wasn't even really a game room. We passed by a room fill of scary guys who played Magic. We didn't know what else to do so we started lining up to get into the Dealer Room. The line was long and boring so I waddled off to change into my costume. I had hell but whatever, oh and screwed over the wig so I was wigless. I came back out and got attacked by a girl who had trouble breathing because she was like "omfgomgfomgomfgitsbeautifulomfgowajgeiwoajf*breathebreathe*" I returned to Sty and soon enough we spotted MJ and Space in the distance and brought them closer to us XD... Soon Roger came to join us and we lined up together for quite a while. We got into the entrance when it started to get really hot D:... Then we all stared at the ceiling as we watched some random AMVs. Finally it was our turn so we stormed in and I tried to find doujin I might like but NO LUCK. And with $10, you can't buy JACK. We saw K2 vol.2 though, but Sty decided not to get it. The steamy rooms sucked. Meh, the heat really kills. Especially when I was wearing lots. Thank you for no wig. That was over, didn't get ANYTHING after all. We then went to watch Millenium Actress. I didn't get all emotional as I did the first time I watched it. A girl behind was like "Stupid" when the protagonist did something.. well, stupid. Of course she's stupid, the animators and the story guy purposely made her do what she did, so no YOU'RE stupid. After the movie, which btw was in a room that had a gross nasty smell O_O. We peeked next door where they had really eewie karaoke and even different grossness nasty smell so NO. We went to watch other random stuff and oh, I went to watch Super Gals! with Sty and lol I love it! I went home and immediately did some research 'n downloaded it right after. ;D Okay, I think that was all of my rather unimpressive AE04 experience.



Then I had more work so no more AE Saturday nor Sunday.



I don't remember what did on the following days off.



I went with Jo and her mom for some necessity shopping at Costco. Had bbt with Jo after because I had the URGE for some. And so we did. We talked a bit about anything and everything. I saw my co-worker (Georgey~) havin' bbt there too, ahhaa. We left early because I had to work the day after. Yey work. I will definitely get green tea ice cream bubble tea when I get paid. I swear! But right now $4.50 is too much for me.



Sunday! Day off! Fixed Schedule! Had church in the morning and saw Steve that I haven't seen in FOREVER. He still has his cute charm, 'cept not as much. We returned home after church and picked up my bro. We had dim sum and then made our way to the wedding ceremony in Richmond. The chapel parking lot made us pay. D: Anyways, the chapel was small~ It was about as big as my living room~ I didn't recognize Stephanie when I first saw her! Her husband wasn't impressive *cough*... but anyways, the sight of hongers everywhere disturbed my brother lol. And so it started: my brother took crappy pictures because he was a bad photographer, a big group of people came in the middle of the ceremony LOUDLY and took their seats, there were a bunch of people that weren't even related to her in any sort of way (church people?) that were there... after that one-hour long ceremony, we leave and began standing around outside taking pictures. The chapel surprisingly had a beautiful garden that we didn't seen to notice when we first went in, which was really cool. There was a stray rabbit that the hongers squealed and attacked, not realizing its stray meaning it may have rabies and etc etc. There was also the flower toss. Hmm... the youngest girl (around 10 years old) caught it. o_O



By the time we got home, we had to get ready to leave again for the dinner. My stack of "Mugen no Jyunin" manga I borrowed from the library caught my brother's eye so I let him read it and he got hooked! The series' soo coool~ I can't wait it all when I get paid! Probably my second paycheck? Or maybe a little at a time... ANYWAYS, it was time to go so we made our way to Marriot Hotel, also in Richmond. My brother got high on alcohol (mainly from champagne fruit punch and red wine) and my uncle (dad of the bride) kept drinking his energy booster drinks. My bro got plenty complimented about the fact that he looks like a character from a korean comic which is kinda funny, especially when some people say I look like a character from an anime. o_o And so it continued, the bride and the groom did some crazy games, the food was great and my bro went to the washroom a lot. o_O At the end, I wanted to talk to the bride, but since I'm not that important to her (compared to the other people) I didn't have the chance... meh.



TODAY! I got on the 98 B-Line to get to work in Richmond and the bus driver, who looked like Brian Jervis, told me to pay a dollar to cross zones. I was like WTF! I never had to pay! Sure, I pay when my earlier ticket was Zone 1 and I'm in Zone 2, changing BUSES but NOT when I'm in Zone 1 going on ONE BUS down, through into Zone 2! The fack! Aghhhh it left me feeling angry all morning. I couldn't find my change bag so a kind chinese guy paid for me. I recognize the guy though~ He always had the yellow radio headphones with him, so I'll be sure to return the kindness the next time I bump into him on the same bus! But still fack! Maybe he IS Brian Jervis who got facking fired from his job he did a shiet job at doing annuals and now he's driving stupid busses.. D: Ughhh... Now I don't know WHAT to think. I gotta find out if he's right or not though~



ALSO TODAY! I was the only one working in my section today! It was quiet and peaceful... I liked it but... TIME WENT TOO DAMN SLOW. Because the Container (aka. Receiving) was delayed to the next day (which just so happens, I'm not working! HA!) there was nothing to stock up on! So this slow day was... slow. And Tomo-san I was very "Anime-Poi" (Very Anime-Like) lol, wat the fack~ I only replied with a "Eheheh..." And then asked if I was the type that would give up their life for their love (he was thinking of J-Dorama) and I was like "Of course NOT! Atashi wa sou janai yo!" And then my supervisor laughed with him... :D Hmm, all the employees doesn't seem to like him though... Only the higher-up staff that know Japanese are good with him (my supervisor, the manager, and the Lillian supervisor that doesn't like me for some reason (!!!))... the chinese staff, lol, I won't go there. Anyways, they're all pretty scary to me.



Daiso music is slowly changing but still the variety still sucks. Some new additions: Janne Da Arc (YAY!), Gackt ("...must feel the faiya!" omfg FACKING KILL that BLOODY SONG), some Super GoGo Robot Transform SuperHero Crazy Tight Pants-type tracks, Love Machine sung by this old man that sucks (where's the moden version w/ MorningMusume?! ;_;), Kuraki Mai (I don't like her too much) and some more bad random music. Heeeelppppppppp~

last LAST Sunday, BBQ @ the fish's place. It being a social gathering and as a farewell party for Daniel who's leaving to somewhere which we asked about but I didn't remember hearing the answer. I helped the fish with the preperations before the party started at 4 (hosing the chairs and the porch was teh fun :E)... people slowly started coming, and I wandered off to play Sim Tower that I wasn't able to install successfully on my computer (had the sudden urge for it one night so we both installed it -- my attempt being a failure)... Eleanor showed us her photo album as she told her story about her two week trip to Japan. She got to do voice acting :O!! Anywho, didn't get to play MJ cuz the other people hogged it up. Played some racing game on PS2; beat Eleanor a few bwahaha... nice cars tho.





AE was a little under two weeks away when Sty and I decided to make a last-minute costume for the cosplay for Anime Evo 03. Bought the fabric (FABRICLAND MUST GO TO HELL) and began that Monday. Did plans, slacked off much, got "stressed like frick". Day by day, we woke up earlier and earlier to meet up and work to try and finish the costume. Monday: 4pm; Tuesday: 10am; Wednesday: 10am; Thursday: 9am; Friday: 7:30am; Saturday: 6am (supposedly 4am but no buses came until 6)... ending the day around at 10pm everyday. We planned to finish that Saturday morning, but Sacha collapsed because of over exhaustion in the morning, so we didn't go at all. Sadly I finished my costume (with a few problems here and there that I temporarily fixed with some pins just for the day. Sunday was the worst day of course, but since we worked so hard all week, I didn't want to put it to waste. Saboo felt sick that morning so she didn't go, leaving Sty, tzen and myself to go ourselves. Hee, scared lots of people on the bus and skytrain with my wicked pink hair (btw I was Lacus from Gundam Seed -- no pictures to show yet :p) that turned out sorta shitty because we didn't exactly finish combing it so it looked big and puffy. We met some "otaku" at the bus stop after the skytrain and followed us everywhere cuz he noticed my cosplay and knew we were going... he talked a lot. We arrived at SFU and was bombarded by rabid Lacus fangirls (where's the hot fanguys? :p) and then headed off to the Stargate SG-1 panel that Sty wanted to go and see. I had no interest in it whatsoever, considering I've only seen less than 2 mins of one of the eps and found it really corny. Sty won a free hat at the panel and bragged about it all day. We headed off to the dealers room right after, following a couple (which I swear looks like brother and sister -- but they said they were a couple in the AE forums) cosplaying as characters from Lunar 2. We journeyed across the SFU crazy valleys, huffing and puffing at the sight of stairs and from the sun. We got there, the dealers room was stuffy and crowded; no fun. Nothing looked interesting so we glanced at everything quickly. I wanted to waste money but there was nothing to waste it on. We bumped into tzen and went off to meet frector at one of the video rooms. The first 10 mins or so was a free-for-all talk forum about anime people wanted to see next year.. some really funny suggestions: this particular boy in the back suggested Dragon Ball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh and Yuu Yuu Hakusho .. funny. They finally found the Excel Saga DVD that they were stalling time for, got through the first DVD and then moved onto Noir. Watched the first ep and left. We were once again attacked by rabid fangirls, this particular group somewhat cosplaying as Gundam Seed too (too cool too cool!!). I honestly didn't expect anyone to cosplay as Gundam Seed at all. So there was this Cagalli and younger version Athrun (not older, BOO!) but cute anyways. Tzen took the mini group photo... I want it. :E After that we went to bother Nina who was sleeping at the art tables, selling her artwork. Sty pursuaded her to follow us home and buy ice cream cake, and so she came. We arrived at the Victoria Dairy Queen and spotted a v. good ice cream cake with a naked muscular guy flexing as the icing, so we got that. Brought it back, partially melted and we all ate some; sweet as hell. Had some shake n bake chicken and hash browns for dinner at Sty's place and got going. Did I mention my skirt was crooked the whole day making it seem like I wasn't standing straight for the pose for the camera? :p Oh well, overall: total suckage weekend of unnecessary stress.
