Renewing

I come back from LA, and bam - hellooo heatwave~

The unpleasant and motivation deteriorating heat aside though, summer's already half over and I've been hit with a number of reality checks. The biggest deciding factor is definitely the lack of income.

Job hunting is excruciating but currently in progress nonetheless!

I've given up on my Newtype subscription, which ended this month. Not sure how many years it has been but I've realized that I ran out of space to store them anyway.

However... The biggest sacrifice this year will be the release of my kidd.nu domain. The registrar has been ruthless since day 1: charging for dns changes, info changes, and the domain renewal prices are of the wrist-slitting level. It's been 9 wonderful years and it's my oldest existing domain. It hurts thinking about it but there's still a month left for me to enjoy it while I can... whatever that "enjoying" may be.

The Clean Room Tour

Once every so often I suddenly get the urge to clean my room. The last two heatwave days were one of those every so often days. Strangely enough, in 35°C weather, I was even more determined to get the place cleaned up. Though I must admit, I was even more motivated after looking at the "show your otaku room" thing happening over at DC.com where people basically showed off their awesome geeky collections. Compared to them, my collection is laughable. I admire their pretty glass cases. They don't need to worry about this despicable thing called DUST. I also considered a before and after picture but considering I'm a girl, I don't think that would be appropriate. Hey, I don't know what you're thinking right now but don't go there.

Also more recently and a little bit more off topic, I began putting some effort into placing more images in my posts. As a blog reader myself, I finally (finally? really? took me 8 years to get it through my dense head I guess) figured that just straight blog posts with heavy text (since I'm a rambling long-air blog poster) would probably be boring as eff. So! to make that work better, I had to switch blog layouts to give me a wider blog posting area. The area before was restricting like hell, making me only post dinky photos... hoping this solves that. I'll probably do more layout tweaking when I'm not so lazy. K, let's do this.

My Clean Room 1

Figures area which is unfortunately already too full for more.

My Clean Room 2

A portion of my Pinky: st family.

My Clean Room 3

The secondary figures area which is, uh, full too.

My Clean Room 4

I'm proud of my Gloomy.

My Clean Room 6

I don't consider myself a real daimakuradakimakura owner until I get a full size big one.

My Clean Room 7

I haven't made room for the two figures sitting awkwardly at the top of my CD stand. Not sure if I ever will.

My Clean Room 8

Convention badge history.

My Clean Room 9

Digimans and Pokemans.

My Clean Desk 11

This is the first place that gets messy. You can just start imagining the mountain that will start building itself in the next few days.

I was also told to get myself an LCD already so I can make even more room. My CRT was 'dying' at a certain point this one time (strange high pitched noise plus the rare but happens blank screen when freshly booted up) but it seemed to have recovered itself at the moment so I'll try and delay having to get a new monitor as much as I can. Besides, there's plenty of other priorities (like wow, I fell in love with this!).

My Clean Room 5

So... I buy a lot of manga and they get stored under my bed because - pfft - who needs a bookshelf?! It's close to full (yes, the back has reached the wall and you are looking the edge of the frontline) so I gotta start figuring out where to store them next.

And that ends the mini tour. I also have posters but my walls have been tame since my last room overhaul.

Here's a bonus photo:

kidd.nu is alive!

It's been THREE YEARS since I last updated my domain layout. Finally! Today! I suddenly had a design urge and changed it up a bit. It's probably because I've been a while since school and I haven't done any designing lately... Sadly from looking at what I've done, it doesn't seem like I've improved much. Having to make/design websites at school and at work makes one not want to design anything when they get home. Then again, that's probably just me...

After revamping the main domain, I've suddenly realized there's so much other stuff I have to clean and freshen up too. My domain's pretty dead except for my blog, which isn't even hosted on my own domain anymore. That's one task to do: install FTP on my server so I can move my blog back. Then there's some inactive forums that sit around and collect dust... which I only leave there for the community's sake. As inactive as they have become, it's still a way for them to talk with each other. Probably super low on the priority list is to recreate some themes (maybe find and reuse my old ones...). Then there are some fanlistings. They were so hyped in their day... now it doesn't seem to matter to me much anymore. I've already lost 4 or so in the past 3 inactive years but I still have a few hanging around.

It doesn't look like I have any real content-filled websites anymore either. My .hackers page is pretty dead, and anything that was alive before that won't be coming back. I haven't encountered anything that has motivated me enough to go and build a website for... And when there is, it's already oversaturated by the time I get to it. Then again... I think I'm just getting lazy. That's bad.

What else is there... I think I might revive my mp3 rotation site just so I can at least spread some sort of joy. Nothing else planned besides that. Revamp blackwings.net. That would be nice too.

One step at a time... I might need to wait for the next design urge before the next task gets done.

Oh, for lazy people → http://kidd.nu

LJ Posts Import Complete!

Alright! About 150 some odd posts from my LJ has been successfully imported. I've scanned through to toss out the really, really worthless posts (which was about ~200 posts or so) and saved ones that seemed to have some sort of worth. I've probably mentioned this before when I was tagging my old blog posts from Forevermore, but man, during the early LJ years, I was such an annoying teenybopper. So many of these effing ^_^ ^^ faces plus lots of spazzgasmic posts that went on like HOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!

It was quite difficult to go through, but I like how this blog has truly become the main blog/diary of me. I don't think anyone would want to read something from 2001, but for some reason if you do decide to, you were forewarned.

Also, I think I'll start doing more memes again now. I forgot how amusing they actually are. Not to mention, such time wasters. It's great!

Before I start typing away at my review on Skies of Arcadia Legends and while taking a break from posting up (aka. tagging) my old LJ entries, let's talk about this week and stuff in general.

I suddenly had this itch to clean yesterday night, at like, 1am SO I went and cleaned out the whole front room that used to be my computer room, which used to be the gaming room, which also used to be my brother's room before that. The room's now a giant closet slash the place where I put all my empty figurine packaging. The room was once piled messily with huge empty boxes (my computer parts, my mom's laptop box, my mom's massage machine box) and clothes but now they're neatly sorted and organized thanks to moi. I then followed to vacuum the place the next morning (earlier this morning). My room was recently cleaned too... Hm, I should seriously take a picture of it before it piles up again.

The server my domains are currently sitting on is officially mine. My friend (Mike) who was sharing it with me for the last 10? years has decided to give up on it for good. It'll be a bit of a toll on my wallet, being unemployed and all still but I will continue to keep it. I am considering hosting other people to balance off the bill but I don't know anyone who needs it. That just means I'll need to work harder to find a job... that is, if I'm aiming for both AX and PAX...

Speaking of which, AX days planned are July 1 - 7. Just waiting on more better hotel announcements and Shi2 to hurry up and find time off to buy plane tickets. Not to mention, they need more guest announcements. Effing smile.dk, Yamaguchi Kappei and Nozomu Sasaki's appearance at sakuracon d-doesn't faze me one bit...!!

PAX's "limited number of badges" is a bit concerning... But budget is not confirmed so I better not yet.Semester end approaches and I've got some serious revamping to do for most of the projects I've done thus far. Been quite unsatisfied with how most of them have turned out so I'll be (hopefully) dedicating this weekend to do just that.

While on the topic of projects, my upcoming portfolio revamp turns out to be the same colours I used in my current. I was having trouble figuring out what colours "suited" me, and my classmate kept urging me to use orange because I was an "orange person." She can imagine me wearing orange (I have no orange clothes) and said it was perhaps it was because my hair is orange?! Either way, I didn't accept such a crappy answer so I kept looking for a colour combo. I somehow ended up poking around the Pantone community and (re)encountered the colorology page to find that my colour was indeed orange. That wasn't the only thing... Back at school, while I was working on my portfolio, I began looking at my old portfolio site just to see what stuff I plan on keeping and in fact, I've forgotten that my page was actually already orange. So finally, hey, what the heck, sure orange it is. So it's official, I'm orange.

Blog is finally up-to-date!

I can't believe I'm finally done tagging and publishing all my posts from Forevermore. I didn't realize how time consuming the whole process is too, especially having to read through all the posts to know what to tag it.

Reading through posts over a few years old were a bit amusing too. It's kinda interesting to see how I've grown and matured (lol orly? :b) and how bad of a student I was in school. Seriously. I did so much complaining. I was also a bad social blogger... I feel bad for all the people who used to read and follow my blog. I also updated my sites/domain a lot. Look at me now. I do nothing of the sort, harhar. I also used to play a lot of MJ. I kinda miss doing that.. sigh.

It's nice to know my posts at least seem a bit more meaningful than what I used to post. I seem to post as much as I used to too. I guess that doesn't change. :D

Importing Forevermore

So I just imported my old blog and merged it with this one. I couldn't import the comments from Forevermore cuz I used a separate service at the time.

Going through and tagging 600+ posts is going to be FUN.

Mid-January 07 Life Update

Surprise surprise... I end up getting work hours after the busy Christmas season. Only once a week but still! Good stuff! I alternate from Oakridge and Richmond every other week and surprisingly I was able to sell something on both days. Hard as hell but I managed! Also it just so happens that the sidewalk sale was happening at both malls too! Good and bad: good that there's a sale; bad that I END UP SPENDING! So uh yeah I ended up buying stuff... eheh.

My brother also just finished suffering through a really horrible cold/flu. It was so bad, he had to skip work for 3 days and stay at home the whole time. Poor guy...

Gaming:
HEY I FINALLY got past the first few hours of FFX after umm.. was it two tries in total since it first came out? LOL. So far, I'm loving Tidus and disliking Yuna. Wakka's voice is so amusing to hear X3

Been playing Fantasy Earth Zero lots lately. It's like the FFXI PvP you always wished for! The auto mana refresh is love <3

FFXI - Attempted to start COR and realize - hoshitz - I need RNG sub.. so I'm TRYING to level RNG but it's kinda tedious lol.. man I was soo psyched when I got to use my first roll at lvl5! Sigh. In other news tho, I temp joined up with this assault ls that has a really shitty leader. At least the other members are more knowledgable than him.

Manga and the related:
DID I MENTION MY WILD ARMS 10TH ANNIVERSARY FANBOOK BOOK CAME IN TEH MAIL? OMGG! The book is full of awsomeness! It makes me wanna play Alter Code: F to see all the new chars they added and the changes they made.

I wish the last Furuba book would hurrys up its ass and makes its way here already XP

Music:
The latest SOUND HORIZON CD "Roman" is EXCELLENT!
I get to hear Sou-niisama laugh in track 3 and say a line in track 4! Hahaha!

Ahh sillyness is awsome. Now I flee to bed.

Status of Clearing up old HDDs: 85%
I'm almost there...! As soon as that's done, I need to welcome back AnimePsychoGirl and Sayoko the sofaking of kidd.nu and blackwings.net...

So much to do! So little time!

I had Wendy's tonight. So unhealthy. And the fries burnt my tongue. Still hurts...

I finally finished my moblog layout. It's kinda ew. Does she scare you?

I got more love in the mail today. My Japanese version Ragnarok manhwa have arrived! The first three anyways... Now I know friggin why the Tokyopop ones are soo thin compared to these ones! Tokyopop chopped them into multiple books so they could steal more money!! And I didn't know Koreans read from left to right... it's hard to flip the pages on these blooody books. And a strange thing... the "Chaos" in this version is translated as Keiasu (ケイアス) not Keiosu (ケイオス) as you think it'd be spelt as. And the level and stat thing in the Tokyopop version's BS. The ones I have here don't have anything like that at all. Anyways.. enough of that.

I also went and created hell at the bank today. They switched my account and credit card from student to regular withou my consent wtf! So I got charged all these retarded fees all of a sudden... at least I checked my online statement and noticed. They better let me keep my student account (even though I'm not a student atm.. but I WILL BE!) cuz there's no way I'm going to deal with having to switch back and forth every time. That's just no fun.

The meeting at work better not cancel Friday. *shakes fist at the GM*

Success!

Aaah~ Stress relief is awsome.

I've put that off for days already. I've been setting it aside, figuring out what else to add or change. Next on the list is to update the links page. It's extremely outdated... more than half of the domains (maybe even 2/3?) on the page do not even exist anymore. Bah.. I'm so behind. Seeing all the crazy new domains that look so advanced, it puts my domains to shame I tell you. It doesn't bother me though surprisingly. My pace (daioh~)...

The Harmony interview was interesting. I got the most retarded individual question and I answered it badly too. Go me!

It was my first day to return to the world of Vana'diel today... as an advanced Tarutaru. o__o I was hoping I'd only have to do mindless Beastmaster chopping but they wanted me as Whitemage so I freaked out. There's no fricking way I could be a lvl75 whm and not kill everyone. I never even reached nearly lvl75... hmm I think I ended almost at 60, but that was it. Anyways, I cunningly avoided having to play as whm and managed to wait until my bro to come back. Well, at least I helped him go back to Jeuno, switch jobs, grab his gear and return to the Glacier. *semi-proud of self* I saw so many familiar players... wow they're still playing; so many people have no lives.

Oh, Mo^2 finally lent me HP and the bloody prince -- er, half blood. I started! It's been a while since the previous book... I can't remember some people. D: Like who the hell is Harry Potter? :b

To end off the night: I hate Play-Asia.com with a passion.

*has trouble breathing*

This layout took forever. WHY? *POINTS TO THE STUPID RSS FEED* DD:!! Yes, I thought it'd be COOL to feed my moblog into my new layout but feedburner pre-stylizes the feed (instead it having it nice and plain) making it annoying to ccs stylize it myself. Or maybe I was just retarded... but nonetheless, it was frustrating. D:

Anyways, hi. Welcome to my 19th version. It's not finished yet... I think I'll add a few more things when I get home tonight but I gotta go to work soon so I'll leave it like this for now. I'll blog a better entry tonight (er technically tomorrow morning, is when I get off work :b). Time to get ready...

EDIT 2:01AM: Nevermind, I'm too tired! Maybe tomorrow. :]]

September Begins...

Sooo... the last week of August was pretty crazy. Everyone at work was extremely nice (hahaha yeah you wonder why) and especially the last day, I got treated to (Tim Hortons) breakfast and lunch lol. Then me and my co-worker left with no regrets, just except maybe leaving the new girl out to die by herself. I've yet to go pick up my last juicy paycheque. I kinda don't wanna go back and have to see them again and then they'd blahblahblah and be noisy about what I'm doing now and then try to convince me to go back and help out. Meeh. I gotta go back SOMETIME cuz, DUDE, I STILL GOT MONEY THERE. WHO DOESN'T WANT MONEY! D:! Oh and I gotta pick up my reference letter from the old branch too... diu so much confrontation required.

Thenn... I jump started into my new job the day after I finally quit the other. Quite a strange change of pace. It's been a week since and I think I've gotten the hang of it. It's sometimes annoying to only have one person working at a time because it doesn't really allow you to step away from the desk... ever. Well you CAN but while you're away you'd be thinking "Ahh crap I better be quick cuz what if someone's waiting there??!" And yes, it happened again today. People standing around waiting for my return. Sooorry I was having hell with the outside pool cleaning because APPARENTLY the bloody STORM from yesterday dirtied the whole damn place. The people tonight sucked. No more to say about that.

Fish's birthday. Funny... I was out with him the other day and I was discussing how I'd go to his dinner FOR SURE and suddenly it turns out Monica's injured ankle is more serious than we all thought so she's now on 'sick leave' making me close Saturday instead. Haha he forgives me... but I told him we'd [Elie can't make it either] make it up to him another time.

SO I've (relatively) recently gotten addicted to online shopping (from online shops this time) and I ordered a bunch of stuff aaaand I'm waiting patiently for their arrival. Since I haven't shopped from them before, I'll decide whether to continue my shopping exhibition after receiving my first batch of goodies. Customs が無ければいいね~ And yar, if successful, I'm going to start a little online shopping BLOG! AND BLOG ABOUT ALL THE FRIGGIN MONEY I WASTE!

Speaking of updates and such.. I've been UPDATING MY FRIGGIN SITES TOO. I've suddenly become inspired again to update and make new layouts. Inspired doesn't mean I'll do it all. Just a little motivation's making me make changes here and there. I've recently finished my AIR GEAR FL and then I updated all my fanlistings. Fun stuff~ Btw, I dunno what inspired me either. Meh.

Anyways, parents are waking me up for some good ol' dim sum tomorrow before work yayness. Better sleeeeep.

Hello there!
Soo our AX plans have finally set to STONE! At least more fortified than before when we were playing with just the goo -- like Kawachi and his ungerminating dough. Ok, now we got Disneyland on the list thanks to Sty (lol). Anyways, I hope even after this trip, I'll be able to save enough for Japan next year. Apparently my bro's still aching for it so we've come to a decision to go no matter what now. Woo, more promises to keep. I can do it, gogogogo~

And I accidentally ordered some manga that ETAs right before AX... gotta limit spendages... seriously. Cuz just last week, I got paid... but TO get 90% of it taken by my mom to pay off my school fees. So once again, I'm poor. Come on tax returns, I'm counting on you!!

So the new 2010 logo was announced and my first reaction: "Rocks." So well yeah they're rainbow rocks all right.

At work! Another lady (that turns out to be a GIRL) that went away for a months worth of vacation in HK returns to rereplace the Mandarin-speaking Accountant lady. She's.. chatty. No, you know what... everyone at this branch is chatty. Did I mention loud? Holy shit they're all loud. Broken volume controls everywhere, really. Almost everytime I'm on the phone, I gotta ask the customer to repeat what they say cuz the background noise is just THAT loud. That's not a bad thing though... That is, I'm comparing this branch with the other branch that I just so happened got to visit last Friday. The other side is a lot cleaner and newer but... it's so spacious -- where's the love?! Where's the warm family-like feeling? Since the other building is so big, everyone's spread everywhere. Though I envy their cleanliness though. Dammit my workplace is DIRTY. AGAIN, TWICE ALREADY, I got some idk wtf some weird oil-like smear on my clothes! I tried to trackdown the origin of the evil but with no avail. I shake fist at thee workplace.

Oh there's just so much to talk about when it comes to work... well I AM there for 40 hours a friggin week! My monitor's starting to flicker (yesyesyesyes!), meaning, it's TIME FOR A NEW MONITOR! Hopefully it'll come with a new system and everything(I wish... :b). The pull-out keyboard from under the desk is so damn annoying and uncomfortable. But I can't seem to stand the front-desk computer either, even though I use it more frequently now. The monitor's proped too high up and the screen's too close. And the keyboard's spacebar's f0cked up. IE also likes to crash often too.

Holy crap I gotta work on my phone skills.

Hey my mp3 rotation got rotated with new layout too. Mmm I'm happy... I haven't photoshopped anything in ages. It feels good.

After the server move, foreign characters aren't showing up properly anymore. Gotta get around to fix that. Mmm website backlog goodness.

Almost done cover letter. Gotta do a few more touchups.

My sickness is a lot better than before btw. I get the occasional morning throat pain and the random cough. Still... the bad part lasted for almost 2 weeks. Evil evil buggers.

Don't vote Liberals.

Facking ugly.

If it wasn't for this annoying tension for my interview tomorrow, I'd change it this instant. Oh, the OTC Marathon... I guess I'll have to wait a few more days for bwNET then.

First day of work was interesting. They didn't tell me to do anything, so I looked kinda dumb trying to find stuff to do. Anyways, more detail on that later perhaps.

Finally, I worked on something! It felt like forever since I last made a layout or something... I feel so rusty and crappy. I can't wait till my hours/schedule are/is all sorted out because I'll have more time to DO STUFF! Yeeey, I want to do so much site renovation and updating. *hand shakes uncontrollably*... I need my addictives... like.. NOW!

Day In Day Out

So I was about to go sell my books back to the school today until I realized I didn't uninstall the StudySpace CD for Psychology. Realizing the CD's too ghetto and program, there weren't any auto uninstall program thingers in there. So now I can't sell my books because of this one CD that goes with my Psychology package, cuz the buyback people might demand the CD too or I won't get all the money I could get back, then that would suck. And what if I need the stupid CD to uninstall the damn program eh?! Then the stupid program'll be stuck with me FOREVER. Ugh, I shoulda realized earlier... Let's hope they still want my books by tomorrow.

Getting paid tomorrow.... wow. I wish tomorrow would come sooner....

So I accidentally stayed up late to finish up a new layout fer the group blog, Stardust. I liked how it turned out. :D I had the theme song of Fatal Frame II playing while doing the layout... that might've given some inspiration. :}

Did I mention SakuraCon isn't allowing me to roll-over my registration from last year? I hope they burn in hell. :[

Must... find.... a new..... job.....

Time to go to work. ;_;

kidd.nu makeover

Yay, finally I got it off my back and finished it up: PLUG. Yes, as suggested by a considerate commentor, it was indeed the fault of my colour profiles! I didn't know which profile was the right one to use to get my original colours back, and apparently none of them had it anyway. So I got the proper profile straight and altered it to the closest it was originally. Then I had hell with the html! But all in all I learned something new at the end, so it was all worth it. It's too bad I don't especially like this layout... so might change it sooner than planned. There was also an update featuring Madoka in the linkage page as well. I'd call them matching if they actually matched but they don't.

Linkage Page > Main Page

The World BBS members have been pestering me recently to talk with them on the phone because I agreed to talk to them this one time. I said absolutely nothing throughout the whole conversation, so I don't see why they like calling me.. xp At least they're humorous on the phone.. :p

We finally watched Riddick Saturday! As a person who doesn't remember watching the prequel, it was a strange movie. At the end we all had "Huh?" faces because of its lack of detail storyline. After the movie, Simon went to study leaving Fish, Tony and me. The three of us had a late lunch (@ ~3/4pm) and then called Jon out for MJ. Played a round and Jon had to go. I'm last place this time! Didn't win a single game. There was still plenty of time before dinner, so we urged Fish to fix Tony's computer. We watched some Canadian Idol while helping him out while downloading Pitch Black and The Ring ready for next movie time! More Moviessss!
