I just came back from visiting a new Shoppers Drug Mart location in Richmond. The shaver section has an alarm system. So when you open up the transparent lid to grab a shaver, it beeps. The strangest thing.
It was Eleanor's dinner birfday party thing Sunday. Elie was trying to get ahold of me the whole week but her timing was really bad. For some reason that goes the same for Jo as well. People, if you wanna contact me, contact me at the right time! How? Um, you'll need luck. XDD
So last minutely, I was told to get a CAKE. Okay, so I had to call up a few Death by Chocolate places to find the right cake. So I finally found a place with the right cake, and I flew there and grabbed it. I was greeted by a tomboy Korean girl who didn't know what I was talking about when I asked for my cake. Another Korean guy comes to the front, all shady lookin' and everything, realizes I was the one on the phone and helps me out. I had him make me some wording so he went and made some fresh white chocolate to write the words. After he was done, he shuffled his way to me and showed me his crazily written birthday cake. Hahaha, awsome, I thought. Anyways, he was really nice and sweet though.
Dinner time comes around and I rush there first to drop off the cake. I am the first to arrive. Yey. After 10 mins, Jerry is the first to arrive. And then gradually others make their way there. Water spilling. Under the table grabbing. Change begging (by me). Cake mistake. Oh, about the cake. Stupid waiter Ken. He didn't know we had a cake for the birthday girl! And then he loses the candle! Turd! Anywhos, our present (from me and Mike) was probably the best (even though I didn't see what the other people gave her but... I can assume :x) since it came from ooOooh Swarovski which _I_ picked out *proud*. It's SOO CUTE XD! It was hefty but Mike wanted something from there so yeah! After dinner, half of the group went to drink while the other half jet. I was part of the jetting half since I had work the next day. Meh. Happeh Birfday Eleanorrrrrrrsssss! So old.
TAX RETURN! IT COMES! I FEEL A LITTLE BIT MORE RICH AGAIN!
OMG! MY CREDIT CARD COMES SOON! SOO SOON!
First day of MANDARIN CLASS! Amusing to no end! A much bigger class compared to the Japanese class (oh maybe 'bout ~13 ppl). There's a good variety of people (big small young old asian caucasian etc)... There's only one other Cantonese "speaker"; she looks/sounds white-washed but I've yet to find out what kind of "Cantonese" she claims she knows how to speak. There's also another girl who is half Cantonese and is definitely a CBC. We talked a bit, which was nice. A Korean girl sat beside me and expected me to be a UBC student like herself. She was in total shock or something like that when she found out I wasn't. Then to further brag she constantly mentions she's a UBC student in her introduction. Woo, good job girl~ There's also a father and daughter who're taking the class together (aww, cute XD) and other randoms. About the teacher now. She's a handful. She has big teeth...or just a big mouth. Apparently she taught Mandarin in Japan for (what was it?) 10 years so our material and the videos were either in Japanese or from a Japanese source. Oh, I think there's another person in the back of the class that knows Japanese too. When she asked who knew Japanese, I didn't raise my hand so that's good. The less they know about you, the better. IMHO anyways. :b They need not know, right? Anyways, continuing on... the teacher's english isn't all that great. And apparently we don't get to learn how to write. I'm so disappointed, BUT at least I get the vital pinyin crap learnt and dealt with. Man, she has the total countryside China accent...
So the first class was kinda rushed; too much material for one day. At least it was relatively easy to understand for me. It must be amusing for the teacher though... Imagine a whole class chanting "I am Canadian." (Wo shi ja ra da ren!)
Now, I need to sleep bad.
